I can't believe I've been beaten to the punch! And by a Marine, no less! But that's the way it goes, so let's get on board. (Jealousy be damned!)
Dr. Rebecca Johnson of the Marine Corps University recently launched a course on military ethics which she is teaching on Twitter in parallel with her real-life class on the same subject taught to senior Marine leaders. She recently wrapped the first topic - an Intro to Professional Military Ethics - and you can get a look at the syllabus and some background here. You'll be able to participate in the course and follow the discussion with the #METC hashtag (Military Ethics Twitter Course) on Twitter and the same on Storify. (By the way, you can follow Dr. Johnson at @JohnsonR and me at @MAJGrimes.)
So why am I so jealous? This is exactly what I wanted to try with my Ethics in Military Justice elective I'll be teaching at the Army's JAG School beginning in March. Oh well. Instead of being first on the scene I'll just coopt her participants. ;) In fact, her examination might be an excellent, broad discussion of military ethics before taking a closer look at military justice.
This is a great, creative idea and I hope it works! Either way, I'll be there and I hope you will, too.
